How to choose and apply the right color of blushers

Blush is one of those finishing touches to your makeup routine that can completely transform your look. Blush can brighten your complexion. A sweep of it on the apples of your cheek or just above your cheekbone can open up your face. Done properly, blush can make you look refreshed and alive.

You should consider your face shape before applying blush. Because a blush can either make or break the shape of your entire look

Oval face
Let’s start with the oval face. Is said to be the ideal face. The forehead is wider than the chin.To carry a natural look, use your fingertips to locate the most prominent part of your cheekbone to apply blush and blend towards your temples to highlight your cheekbones.

Round Face
For the round face, the blush should be applied above the apples. Define it by swiping the blush at 45 degree angle from your nose. And then follow your cheekbones. This would highlight the roundness of your cheeks. To add an illusion of length apply a bit of blush to your chin and blend well. Avoid getting the blush too close to the nose.

Square Face
Second comes to the square face. For this, swipe the blush on the apples of the cheeks in small circles and then sweep them towards the temples. This helps the eyes to look up and reduce the sharp angles of square face shape. Blend toward your temples and apply a dab to your forehead and chin to soften the square angle of the face.

Long Face
Now the last but not least is long face. For them one should create an illusion of width on the face. It could be done by swiping the blush to the apples and then stretch them towards the ears. Avoid the war-paint look.

Blush Colors
Color selections also play an important role. Fair skin looks great in rose, olive in peach & dark skin in apricot or even red. You can also match with your lip color.

The best colors for blush to choose are those which are close to your skin tone. Following techniques will help you avoid choosing a blush that seems artificial. The perfect blush color is one that looks as natural as possible.

1. Look to see what color your cheeks look like after you have been out in the cold or exercising at the gym
2. Bend down and touch your toes with your fingers for two minutes and then stand back up. You may need to climb a flight of stairs if this doesn't work. Tak pun tengok lepas jogging. :-)
3. You can also pinch your cheeks and wait for a few seconds.
4. Another helpful way to find the right blush color for your skin tone is to match with your current lip color. If you favor pink tones for your lips, it's likely that a pink blush color will also work well on your cheeks.

Choose the right brush to apply your blush. Throw out the freebie "Barbie-size blush" that comes with the blush. Use the professional full brush instead but don't use the same brush you use for your powder.

How to Apply :

1. Put the blush on your brush, tapping off any excess. Do not blow as bacteria may transferred to your brush
2. Look into the mirror and smile. This helps you figure out where the "apple" of your cheek is.
3. Apply the blush according to your face shapes
4. If you've gone a bit too heavy on the powder blush a bit of loose/compact powder over it will calm it down. (use your powder brush)
5. Finish your look with a sweep of your Silky Touch powder.

Look : Power Pout

 About the look:
Think Barbarella meets Brigitte Bardot. Lips are full and succulent with an innocent yet seductive allure. These puckers really pack a punch! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Steps:

1. First, use a lip balm before applying a hydrating and dazzling lip colour. If you pick a soft colour like violet, don’t go for matte lipstick as it will make you look unnecessarily pale.
2. Complete this look by applying a cool blue eyeshadow on your lids and some blusher on your cheeks. Doing this adds color to your complexion.

Tips pemilihan foundation yang sesuai

Langkah pertama untuk memilih foundation, kenali jenis kulit anda untuk mengenali jenis foundation yang bersesuaian dengan jenis kulit anda. Lain orang lain kulitnya. Ada yang berminyak, ada yang kering, pori terbuka, kombinasi, sensitif juga yang normal.

1. Kulit Kering
Kulit lebih terasa tegang selepas cuci. Kebiasaannya seluruh muka ada daerah yang mengelupas, kasar dan dehydrated. Liang roma tak nampak, kalau ketawa memang senang nampak garisan tepi bibir..

2. Kulit Berminyak
Kulit nampak berminyak lebih-labih lagi di T zone. Minyak yang sangat ketara dan kena selalu lap. Liang roma terbuka dan mudah berjerawat. Make-up akan hilang selepas 3 jam pakai! Aduh...

3. Kulit Kombinasi
Campuran kulit berminyak dan kering. Biasanya berminyak di dahi, hidung dan dagu.. Kering di pipi.

4. Kulit Sensitif
Ada banyak jenis kulit yang sensitif. Ada sensitif normal, sensitif kering, kombinasi atau pun sesitif berminyak. Kalau salah pilih produk, muka gatal, kemerah-merahan atau pun naik jerawat. Ini biasanya berpunca dari beberapa faktor seperti cuaca, persekitaran yang kotor, pengambilan ubatan, diet yang kurang seimbang, hormon tak seimbang, alergik pada bahan kimia dalam produk dan sebagainya. Kurang bahan kimia maka lebih elok untuk kulit kita!

Bila dah kenal pasti kulit, cari produk yang bersesuaian..
- kalau berminyak carilah yang 'oil-free', 'oil-control', atau 'matte',
- kalau kering cari pula yang 'oil-based', 'moisture rich' atau 'dehydrating'.
- Kalau kulit kombinasi carilah yang berasas kan powder atau cream.
- Kalau sensitif pula, pilihlah yang ada tekstur mineral di dalamnya..

Pemilihan Warna
Perhatikan sekeliling terang atau tidak... pencahayaan amat penting. Kalau kawasan kaunter tu macam malap je, keluar je dari kedai dan bawa contoh warna untuk dicalitkan pada muka. Tapi jangan lupa masuk kedai semula ya!.. huhu

Kenalpasti undertone skin. Kalau nak tau, cuba tengok lengan kita warna apa, selalunya kulit melayu, yellow base, dan kulit india atau pun china, biasanya pink base.. tapi ada juga yang sebaliknya.

Gunakan rahang muka sebagai penentu warna, bukan tangan ya! Baca entry 'Cuba bedak asas di rahang'.
Ratakan dan tangan. Pilih warna yang seakan-akan dengan kulit. Kalau tak jumpa, pilih warna yang 1 tona lebih gelap dari kulit, kemudian seimbangkan dengan powder yang 1 tona lebih cerah. Ada juga yang kulit berminyak mempunyai masalah foundation lebih gelap bila kulit dah 'pecah minyak', sekiranya ini berlaku, guna foundation yang 1 tona lebih cerah dari kulit.

Disarankan cari foundation yang mempunyai sedikit asas warna kekuningan (yellowish). Kemungkinan kenyataan ini agak mengejutkan anda, walaupun kulit anda adalah terdiri dari jenis warna pucat atau gelap, kulit wajah anda tetap mempunyai beberapa nada kuning di wajah. (Bahkan kulit anda sangat pucat, peach, merah muda atau warna keputihan (whitish) akan terlihat pucat). Satu ‘foundation’ yang ‘Yellow-Based’ akan dapat sebati dengan cantik terhadap warna kulit wajah anda sehingga kelihatan segar dan sihat.

Biasakan guna foundation brush atau sponge yang bersesuaian. Wah, mahirkan diri macam pro ye!
